You know what I love how you channel your gifts into something resourceful, I feel like many people in our age group are lost and confused in the whirlwind media frenzy that is our lifestyle and don’t truly sit down and really analyze as they should. Shannon,
I saw you reply on youtube rebuttle to ‘Gimme the Buttchecks’ today. Normally I feel completely alone when voicing my opinions about men objectifying and sexualizing women. In this hyper-masculine society, I feel comfort knowing that there are women like you who can stand up for girls like me. Recently I watched this video about how masculinity is just a performance; a social construct created by society to make men appear tough and independent. I see evidence of these when I’m alone with any of them. I don’t think a lot of girls my age realize that they reinforce these ideas of what a man should or should not be by expecting them to be so …”manly”. I think it’s hard living in a time and being aware that so many things are wrong. I try to separate myself from it but it’s hard to find people that don’t conform to these passive ideas of a woman. My favorite philosopher Krishnamurti says that: “It is no measure of good health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society”.
