A few weeks ago the lovely Jonel Wilson wrote us/sent us a kick ass video asking us to do a topic video with her to help kick off her youtube channel. Her presentation was great and we thought the topic was interesting so we said yes! The comments on this video so far have been great, some people agree and some disagree but at the end of the day young women are coming together to define a “bad bitch” and a “good woman”, let us know your thoughts, do you agree? Both Shannon and I agree that 2011 has been a strange year for us, as she mentioned in a previous post we both have felt like we were stuck in the “middle” for the entire year. But at the same time 2011 has been the year of reflection for me, I’ve spent majority of it over analyzing myself and what I like and don’t like about my life, with that being said I’m excited for 2012, for the first time ever I’m truly unsure about what to expect but I know it’s going to be better than this year! Whenever I go to Ted.com I cry. I know that might sound crazy but I always watch an inspiring video that helps to revamp my motivation and boosts my energy. Today I discovered Natalie Warne and it was love at first sight. Curly hair, go-getter, breaking down barriers, reaching for the stars and a film maker! I don’t want to tell you anything about her story because I really want you to watch her lecture video below, it won’t take anymore than 13 minutes of your life but it is well worth it. If there is one thing I learned from Natalie today is that age ain’t nothing but a number and the sky is truly the limit! Take what you believe in and go all the way with it no matter what it is! I said this last week on twitter and I truly believe it, there is no point in doing something half-ass! You either go big or go home! Natalie Warne believed in something so much that she got to Oprah but at the same time she is honest and real and can admit to how hard the journey is sometimes and the amount of money, time, heart ache and struggle it really takes to do something great. But no pain equals no gain! Natalie Warn you are definitely a WILD girl fah true and so damn inspirational! Lets make a movie!

As you know we recently held a last minute giveaway for a hair color makeover with Moroccanoil at the uber fabulous Exit Salon in Toronto (1360 Yonge St). Our lucky winner was Max from the awesome blog max-logic.com (ladies if you need relationship advice ask Max) we had a great time with Max at Exit Salon and learned some things from Moroccan Oil about hair color, keeping your curly hair healthy and how to give your hair shine! Moroccanoil Treatment is a product that I started using in the summer when I was doing Hair Spray because my hair was going through a lot of stress and I absolutely loved it! I found it to be very light and it kept my hair healthy and soft. When it comes to using the product with your hair dye, just add some of the oil to the color mixture and spread it through out the hair. This will help to give your hair shine and moisture and maintain your color. Next time you get your hair done try it out and let us know what you think. I love this blog because they cover an array of topics for Women and every now and then they do a feature on a Woman that allows you to learn about her journey and where she is headed! Pauleanna says: We have grown up with Andrea Lewis on television for several years and you probably recognize her from the hit series Degrassi! Concurrently, she works in the music industry and is preparing to release her upcoming album, so with so much on her plate, we asked Andrea to explain her secret to success and tell us all about her journey to where she is today. Andrea has always supported WWW and we want to take a moment to support her! It is my pleasure to introduce her beautiful story to you ladies.. I was born in Toronto and raised in Pickering and I live between Toronto and Los Angeles currently.

First job ever?
My first “job” ever was a christy cookie commerical when I was 2 yrs old. I was on set for 6 hours but I got to eat cookies the whole time so it didn’t feel like work lol.

First “real” job?
I’ve been an actress my whole life so my first “real job” was probably my first “real” acting role where I played “Teenage Natalie Cole” and I had to cry, I’d never done that before and it took a lot out of me at the time.

Your 5 “must haves” of the moment?
“Watch The Throne” Jay Z/Kanye Album, I can’t wait!!! The ipad 2 or 3 whatever I think I just need one. A shopping spree (there’s too many new items I need for me to list only 5 lol), grey ant sunnies and 1992 Earrings by Badacious.

What are you currently listening to?
Beyonce, Cee-Lo and Robyn

So what do you do?
I am an entertainer, I sing, I act and sometimes I blog!

Take us along the path (personal & professional) that took you where you are today.
My mom got me started in the acting industry as a toddler, I started doing commercials and print ads and eventually moved up to TV and film. At the same time I’ve always sang and in between my acting gigs I would work on demos and started writing songs around 13 yrs old. I was fortunate enough to book a bunch of movies back to back (Down in the Delta, A Holiday Romance, The Natalie Cole Story, Cadet Kelly) by time I hit high school. And then I landed the character “Hazel” on Degrassi where I spent the next 6 seasons! Around the time when my character was “graduating” I did another series during a Degrassi Hiatus called “Mocassin Flats” where my character was a singer and they used my demos that I soon after released on my first album, “Float Away” through Maple Music/Universal and then I made the move to LA! After 6 months of being in LA I booked the first production of the musical “Dreamgirls” (and it was my first time doing a musical) in Canada and I came back home to do that for 6 months then I returned to LA. While I was there I was working on my music and auditioning like crazy and somewhere in between there one of my best friends Shannon Boodram and I started our website and brand “ThoseGirlsAreWild” then I landed the part of “Robin” in Nickelodeon’s first movie musical “Spectacular”. Shortly after the movie’s release I started working on my last album “54321″ with my good friend and writing partner Ty Mckery and the album did really well! I got the chance to promote it in LA, New York, Toronto and the UK. Making the album was a huge release for me because I got to finally write songs about my personal experiences! I had no inhibitions and was free to sing how ever I wanted! After spending the last year promoting the album I recently did a guest spot on the sy-fy series “Warehouse 13″ as the character “JoBeth” and I’m currently playing “Peaches the Dynamite” in the musical “Hairspray” in Winnipeg!

What’s the toughest thing you’ve been faced with thus far?
Even though I’ve been fortunate enough to book acting jobs and release music my career has still been very up and down. I’m still told “no” on a regular basis and sometimes it’s difficult to stay motivated in such a fickle industry. The toughest thing I’ve been faced with is self-confidence, I struggle with this all the time and it’s such a huge part of ones success.

What did your parents want you to be?
My mom always wanted me to be doing exactly what I’m doing. She loves entertainment and is truly my number one fan. My dad wanted me to go to school and get a “normal” job, probably anything but this lol.

What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
“Everything comes in it’s own time” Maya Angelou said that to me when I was 12 yrs old. In my industry there is never enough time and you always wish something amazing happened to you yesterday. But I’ve learnt that everything comes to you when you’re ready. I’ve had a lot of opportunities now that I wished I had when I was younger but I wasn’t ready for them at the time. All I worry about now is learning and be prepared as much as possible for when it’s my time.

What advice do you have for women who want to follow in your footsteps
I would say, “don’t be afraid”. There’s been many times in my life when I shoulda, coulda, woulda but for what ever reason I was scared and I really shouldn’t have been! The older I get the more fearless I become and I always tell young girls or women who want to do what I do to just go for it! Don’t let fear hold you back.

Is it possible for a woman to successfully balance both love and career? Why or why not?
Of course it is! We are born multi-taskers! The same way that I can make time for the gym is just how I make time for a date! It takes work but if you want it you can have it.

What’s next for you?
Next I’m working on another album, I don’t have a release date yet but I’m excited about it! I’ve got a lot of ideas that have been bouncing around my head that I need to get out!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years… 10 years?
In 5-10yrs I’d like to have started my own family, own a production company and successfully released a movie that I produced! And in between all that have released a few more albums!

And lastly, in your opinion, What do Women Want??
Women want to have our cake and eat it too!
