Tomorrow we have a meeting at Universal, a quick photoshoot for the intro and then finishing up some scenes with Laith. After that we wanna sit and chat with you guys sooooo bad! We feel terrible that the blog has become so blah and we wanna chat about why and how now more than ever we need you in our lives.

We had an extremely productive week this week on all of our journeys. Andrea has been in the studio recording (she is there today actually), I set a meeting with my agent for my book and we did a LOT of work on the pilot for our web series. Monday our friend Mike Warren from Everything That’s Fly was kind enough to let us record our show intro plus our spoof song at his wicked studio! Then Wednesday and Thursday we filmed all day (which has resulted in less than 4 minutes of finished footage..ya we still got a ways to go). This week we are filming our celebrity sketch with a famous friend of ours (I bet you can guess who), we are also filming sketch intros, a few more skits, some scenes with Laith and then we need to put visuals to the intro.

Okay so I know myself and Andrea have been a lil MIA on the blog, especially when it comes to delivering our regular goodies but it has been for good reason! We are so lucky to have such incredible interns and guest bloggers so that we can still keep TGAW updated while putting a little bit more of ourselves into our journeys. To recap, our original journeys were as follows:
Andrea – release a new album online
Shannon – Get LAID on Tyra
ThoseGirlsAreWild.com – reach 1, 000, 000 hits by 2011
Since then I have changed my journey to starting my second book (because the Tyra show ended) and we have changed our TGAW journey to starting our own sponsored web series (we are very confident we will reach our first goal). Andrea is still working on her new album and I don’t mean to brag but I heard some of the joints and it’s RIDICULOUS, naw it’s actually Voo Doo to be exact. But I don’t want to summarize, I want to give you detailed accounts of what we have been up to – please share the same!
We recently decided that we are absolutely going to do a web series as opposed to pursuing a TV deal. We were born on the web and frankly the flexibility and possibilities on this thing is limitless. Our gameplan right now is to film a pilot half hour episode (to be edited down into a 3 minute reel which we will share with you guys), do a live screening of our entire episode once online, sign with a manager and then shop around a 13 episode season. EVERYTHING has been put in motion and we begin filming Monday. Our show is broken up into three parts: reality-based Seinfeld comedy, celebrity appearance, viewer interaction.
We are so excited about what we have been working on and yes this is why you have not seen any skits on the blog of late because all of our efforts outside of our individual projects have been going into this journey.

Hello Wild Guys and Dolls! I’m Izabela Szydlo, Editor-in-Chief of Toronto-based pop culture magazine CreamWorld. Cream, by the way, stands for Cars, Real Estate, Entertainment Arts & Culture and Models. I also happen to run the magazine’s official blog, creamworldmagazine.blogspot.com, with which I scientifically explore and analyze the culture of celebrity. Oh! Who am I kidding? I’m a gossip addict (with a conscience)…and your guest blogger for today.
I remember staring at the image of Rihanna without blinking. Her eyes were swollen shut, her lip was cut and it looked like two horns were growing out of the sides of her head. In reality, they were lumps she received during a severe fight with then boyfriend Chris Brown that would be in the headlines for months to come. I felt like a voyeur, but I couldn’t look away. People speculated whether Chris Brown, in all his bubblegum pop innocence, could’ve done this. Talk peppered with assumption continued for months and new “information” emerged everyday. The situation now serves as a perfect example of how we interpret celebrity blogs.
Ah, yes. Celebrity blogs. They’re a mostly barren landscape of rumours, gossip and speculation, but the public can’t seem to get enough. Whether true or not, the things we read on celeb blogs provide great conversation topics during awkward moments with co-workers or when we’re hanging out with friends. Although I’ve published my fair share of rumours on CreamWorld’s blog, I have my limits. If it’s a rumour, I state that it is. If it’s my opinion, I make it clear. If I’m making fun of someone, you’ll know it. I just wish other bloggers would have the same courtesy. How many times have you heard your friends recite, word for word, a blind item they saw on a celeb blog site as fact? It’s a pandemic, people! But fear not, after being engrossed in the celeb blog world for more than a year, I’ve learned a thing or two about deciphering the tricks used by those crafty celeb bloggers.
1. If there’s no clear source (i.e. a video of Jay-Z saying he’s divorcing Beyonce), chances are it’s not true. Phrases like “close sources say”, “a solid source has confirmed” or “the insider explained” are convenient ways of covering up a complete rumour.
2. Watch for descrepencies. Celebrity bloggers love to turn something innocent into a headline. For example, you’ll see something like, “A Pregnant Alicia Keys Has Steamy Affair with Prince!” There will be a photo of Alicia and Prince standing close together and speaking in what appears to be an intimate manner. Look at the corner of the photo for a DJ booth. Chances are they were in a loud club, had to lean in to speak and Swizz Beatz was cropped out of the image.
3. Learn to spot total assumptions. Here’s a classic one. Last month, photos surfaced of Halle Berry and her assistant walking arm-in-arm and laughing. One blogger wrote an entire story about how the woman was Halle’s lesbian lover and was whispering sweet-nothings in her ear. *blank stare * Note to self, if you link arms with friends, you’re a lesbian.
4. Bloggers pick targets. I’m guilty of it too; some targets are just so easy. But I digress. These “chosen ones” will get smeared, no matter what they do. They’re also often the topic of rumours. So, if you visit a blog five times and every time you go, it’s trashing Nicki Minaj, chances are she’s a target. (This works in reverse too because bloggers have “favourites”, who can do no wrong in their eyes).
5. Read the entire post. Sometimes you’ll get to the end to discover that a celeb blogger’s headline was actually a catchy ploy to get you to read the story and contains maybe an ouch of truth.

Thanks to Izabela for an amazing post this weekend. Girl knows a thing or two about how to work celeb blogs because not only does she have one but she has also gotten her magazine in top ones like MediaTakeout, Bossip, Nah Right, All Hip-Hop and 2DopeBoyz. Creamworld Magazine is a quarterly publication that I am actually a senior writer for! It has given me the opportunity to interview Ciara, Kid Cudi, Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, Drake and Girlicious to name a few, click CreamWorld for more details. Izabela is a journalistic gem and I want to thank her soooooooo much for taking the time to write an exclusive piece for TGAW!

Where do you know her from? She is the winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 4
Interview and writeup by TGAW Intern, Torie Michelle
Yes, rebel. The incredible kind. She’s a wild girl, certified. She’s forthcoming and a vibe of self-awareness is in her voice. Perhaps not what you’d expect her to be described as if you’re an avid America’s Next Top Model viewer (like me) and recognize Naima as the Cycle 4 contestant who was critiqued as shy and introverted (but also “undeniably edgy”) whose calmness and growing confidence led to her win. To call her a “rebel” is not to say that she flouts all the rules “just because” or that she is caustic and unapproachable now that she’s shed some of her past misconceptions about her potential. In fact, Naima’s warmth, openness, good humor, and upbeat attitude is what made our nearly hour and a half Sunday morning phone chat on everything—music and performing with her new band (Galaxy of Tar), the idea of being pretty, family, pop culture, religion, and what makes her inspirationally WILD—possible. Here’s a peek into our conversation:
I try not to censor myself. I’ve learned that I have to in certain circumstances. (laughs) I’ve just learned and understood that I have to think before I act. I just act, you know, it’s whatever. Sometimes I have to tone it down a little bit but mo.st times I am my natural wild self

I do, yeah. I just shot for a campaign—well, for the preview of a campaign I’m going to shoot again—for an amazing designer who’s a friend of mine. His name is Richard Hallmarq. He’s based out of California; he’s really great. That was my most recent job. I still model outside of that here and there. Not as much as I used to only because I’m so focused on music. Music is more fun for me.

Yeah, I sing for Galaxy of Tar and Elias [Diaz] writes the music for the band. He’s the artistic director for the band as well; he came up with the name from the inner workings of his brain so only he truly knows what it means. But I think it has an obviously dark connotation to it which I really like. We’re working with two really great musicians—Samuel Fernandez and Nemanja Rebic. Sam plays bass; Nemanja plays the guitar. We just had an idea for a sound that we wanted to create—something new and something different from what we’re hearing right now on the radio. We released our debut album [Pneuma] in May. But it’s still very new, we’re just touring and playing a lot.

Soul For Real was kinda like the 90’s version of the Jackson 5…kinda! 4 Brothers who could sing and the youngest one was the lead, they didn’t dominate the charts or anything but they did have a couple hits! I don’t know much about Soul For Real but I do know that if I’m having a 90’s jam their songs have to get played!
