Wild Girl Fah True Misty Copeland (@Mistyonpointe)
Misty Copeland is beautiful, strong, graceful, and refreshing. She is breaking out of the box that anyone has tried to put her in and truly being everything that a WILD girl represents.
Misty Copeland has a very unique story, unlike your typical professional ballerina she started late in the game at the age of 13 (how crazy is it to think that 13 is LATE??), despite her late start she has managed to come out on top. In 2007 she made history by becoming the 3rd african american female soloist and the first in 2 decades at American Ballet Theatre.
Being apart of American Ballet Theatre was her career dream but her dreams came at a cost, because despite her talent, hard work and drive to succeed her color has gotten in the way of some of her chances in the ABT. I can relate to her story a lot from my experience on Degrassi:TNG. It was always my dream to be on a major TV series but my character was often treated as second string because I’m a woman of color.
But nonetheless Misty is still a major success and the true kindness of her character shines through in her performances. I’ve always admired Misty Copeland because she is a woman of color making her way in a community where you don’t see too many of us, and she has a crazy work ethic, you can tell just from her physique that she is not playing around! This woman is hot lava! Misty Copeland congrats on your success and may you continue to have even more, you’re definitely a WILD girl fah true!
