A lot of you were asking what happened or what was going on and even though we tried to act like everything was kosher it was pretty obvious that it wasn’t. Shannon and I have been friends for over 10 years and it’s safe to say that this was our first major fight! It took us awhile to be honest, put pride aside and be very open with each other about how we felt, and how we’ve grown from this situation. Friendship is a rollercoaster and sometimes that ride has scary parts but if you really love some one you don’t let the bumps scare you and you just hold on for dear life and enjoy all the good times with this person.  We love each other and we’re back!

Hiiiiii Ladies! I have no complaints, no worries or concerns I care to share or save you from this week. I simply have the gift of happiness and accomplishment to advertise and want to give you some motivation on how to enjoy these same feelings I have pouring out my soul on this rainy night. I think a lot of times we look to others for happiness and even worse material goods to provide us a sense of accomplishment and reaffirmation that life is “GOOD.”I learned the hard way this summer that it doesn’t take much to feel as happy as the man singing “Let me love you” in the rain outside my window   or be as rich as Michael Jordan when he re-releases his “new shoes” to have money thrown out him by people who don’t have a pot to piss in on a everyday basis! Having little to no income with a jar full of dreams can be the most depressing, time stopping feeling in the world…or, the most enlightened, adrenalin pumping moments in your life. I chose the second route most days but we all have our times where we like to sit like a rock and just say, “SON. WHY. ME? I. DID.EVERYTHING.RIGHT.WTF?!?!” Well basically that’s a waste of time and I say all of this to confirm that you are the only one responsible for your happiness, and you’re the only one to blame if it never gets found.

So, I think mostly everyday this summer I found a way to enjoy my life, whether it was just a walk In BK Bridge Park or travelling on the F line just to go to Coney Island and get a candy apple because I couldn’t afford the rides (lol shit got real).I made my days well worth living, Friends are always a good thing to have by your side and can make any corner you’re standing on feel like a mountain to observe on the BOOFERNERY taking place all around you lol. I also attended poetry spots and clubs (which I’ve spoke so highly about in the past lol) just allowing me to shake off some of the day’s stresses and just allow me to enjoy my life and my youth! Really guys I know I sound crazy but life is so what you make it, I could have been pulling out bank rolls if I wanted to, making money at some job but at that point in my life that’s not what I thought would make me happy. Instead I just had fun drinking slurpies and standing in line for CakeMan Raven to show up WHEN EVER HE FELT LIKE IT ( I don’t know how many of you have had experience with the “cake man,” but he knows he’s the sh*t lol).

I think what made this all the more great was setting one major goal for the end of summer just so you could end the season on a good note and just feel accomplished with your decisions and your life. Me, I had two goals, one, was to go away on a big vacation (saving all day err day, main reason I had no money,) and also to do something to get me further in my field of interest. Well with a huge smile, I’m proud to say I did both! I took a trip to St. Thomas with my best friend and a week after I came back I started my internship with a media production company in the city.

Life is not all about games, as you can see I tied in some career aspects to this piece to point that out. However, No one is going to get where they want to overnight, the trip is a looong one, might as well listen to music, dance, smile and laugh on your way there. I needed to get that fulfillment before I even cared to pursuit my dreams. If your only aim is your career, and not happiness, when you finally get hit that target, do you really call your story a success? I guess it’s what you consider “success” but I know I just want to be happy and this summer it required no money, no job, just friends, laughter, and just joy in my life and comfort to know I was doing exactly what I wanted to do.
