Journey To Week 4
Welcome to TGAW’s Journey To Greatness Post. We took up a huge goal for 2010 and said we would do at least one thing per week to move closer to that goal. It’s Week Four of my Journey to Get LAID on Tyra!! This week, Tyra had an episode on Teen Sex on Monday! She has teens come forward to talk about what they were doing sexually then she brought their mothers out to hear the shocking truths. I caught the re-run (thanks to all who gave me the heads up), it was a great show but I don’t feel it cancels out the need for a show that talks about the unique challenges that our generation faces and how youth are actually the most qualified to educate their younger peers. So onward we go!
NEXT week I am going to post my reader response video to LAID that I mentioned last week so if you’ve read the book and would like to do one e-mail me (sb@shannonteresa.com) so I can send you the questions (thanks to Shayla, Carissa, Chris and Tristan for your videos so far). In addition my mother was watching The View and Jamie Foxx was on talking about his 16-year-old daughter. He said that right now he only jokes about sex but he knows soon he’ll have to get serious, he just doesn’t know how to bring it up… UM CUE LAID! So this week I am going to try to get a book out to him somehow because that would be a glowing endorsement. Speaking of next week, here’s a heads up:
1. Tuesday I will be at York University at 114 Founders College from 3:00 – 6:00 doing a lecture for a classroom then selling books after. If you go to that school, let me know and I’ll pass on my contact so you can find me
2. Wednesday :Seneca College (Don Mills Campus) at The Student Center. The Seneca Student Federation is giving away over $1000 in prizes including 10 copies of LAID
I also wanted to pass on some Journey inspiration! So I was cleaning out my tax folder, prepping for this year when I came across my “Rejection Letters” collection (literally a collection of all letters from all the publishers/ agents who told me that LAID “wasn’t a good fit” for them). And amongst the sheets of white what do I find? A postcard rejection from Seal Press sent in 2006! I couldn’t believe it – it’s funny because I remember thinking to myself when I connected with Seal for my book deal, I wish I found them earlier… Little did I know I had, but I guess the time wasn’t right.
The rumours are true: If at first you do not succeed, try, try, try AGAIN!

so, here’s my update!
school & sorority life have been kicking my behind. i’m finding that not only are my classes this semester more demanding, but one of them is extremely boring. “a survey of english literature” its called. it truly sucks..& even though its only a 50 min. class, it seems like a 2hr class. ugh. we’re not really doing much besides reading in my other classes, except spanish..we had a test friday. hoping i did well on that.

Yeah Carissa, they weren’t feeling it before, probably my presentation and organization was wack – this is why you need to get at me when you’re pitching your book, I have the all of the DON’TS in the book (probably not all…but u get the point).
I dunno why Charis but ur msg reads kinda sarcastic and mean NSOL (nervous laugh out loud). Andrea’s famous, she’s naturally gonna get to do different things than me – plus I stopped being small enough to fit in carry ons a LONG time ago. Hopefully she’ll come back with pics and good stories for all!

i never told you i wanted to write a book, so you might be mixing me up with someone else, OR you might be a mind reader b/c i actually DO want to write a book, i just don’t have anything to write about lol. stop reading my thoughts Shannon.
p.s i was reading the Desi mag article and i found more proof that we’re twinny twin twins…our dads have the same first name. coincidence? i think not.
Thanks for showing us your rejection letters.Sometimes it takes a thousand no’s before you hear that one yes. That’s what I believe and you can’t give up. There has been numerous times that I’ve seen a t.v show/ commercial that I auditioned for and I didn’t get the role and I’m like “man that could of been me” but what is meant to be will be….you just can’t give you.
I emailed you guys a link to my Week 4 “Journey To…” vid. I’m really excited, I have a week until I’m in Los Angeles for the month…hopefully auditioning and working.
i would have really love to come and hear you at York University on Tuesday, But i go to School up north and will not be in Toronto till Wednesday morning so i think i will come see you at Seneca College i would love to purchase a copy of the book

Fescott you know what’s funny, sometimes no should really be interpreted as “ask me later” or “ask me better” I think that was my case. ANNNNNND I didn’t get your video! did you sent it to the gmail account? If so Andrea runs that so hopefully she’ll post it when she gets back to LA. i’m not sure if you’re familar with dr. drew pinsky(You may recognize him from Teen Mom:the reunion on MTV and Celebrity rehab on VH1…) …but he used to have a show on MTV called Sex with Mom and Dad, where he would have teens admit to their parents what all they have been doing sexually and he’d give them challenges or fun ways to bring it up and talk about a healthy sexlife. He has his own radio show where he discuss sex what have you. Maybe you can visit his radio/talk show?
